Jake Tapper, one of the most known reporters for CNN in America I thought would be an interesting person to look at, especially as in America there can be a great divide between the news channels CNN and FOX news. There were two instances online for Tapper where I could see spikes in his account, which surprised me as I thought his following might fluctuate slightly more. The first instance was in November 2020, adding 260,752 to his follower count where he released a new documentary “Trumping Democracy: An American Coup”. A documentary that exposed the links of Facebook, Cambridge Analytica and the Trump administration and how together they won over 3 key states in the presidential election, leading to Donald Trump becoming the 45th president of the United States. a big story when it dropped definitely made Tapper a popular reporter to follow. His next spike came in January 2021 where he gained 229,532 followers on twitter. This stemmed from when the Capitol got stormed, furled by trump. Tapper was one of the main correspondents on CNN covering this story for two days. A major event for history, which had people glued to news outlets, especially CNN.
