His first spike in followers came in March 2020, gaining 11,890 followers a correlation with the start of the pandemic. The first time I was introduced to him was also at this time. He posted everyday about case numbers in Ireland and reported live from press conferences about new restrictions. His next spike after that was August 2020, where he gained another 6,928 followers this spike came after a record number of cases and of Covid-19 and ICU patients occurred in Ireland at the time. His role in the pandemic I think was him acting as a great correspondent for people online, often criticising some contradictions the government made in conferences. He also did a great job or reporting without instilling fear in people online and had no time for people who did not believe Covid-19 was real. He had another spike in January 2021, where he had great optimism about the state of the country ensure that the end of restrictions were near. Chambers also released a book at this time called A State of Emergency after he documented on the pandemic in Ireland. In a weird way for Chambers the pandemic was the best thing that could have happened as it gave him great exposure and a larger platform online. More recently Chambers has released a podcast with Virgin Media and two other reporters, ensuring his career is only beginning and is a go to online for updates in the news.
